The Spaniard has been ravaged by injuries over the last 12 months.
He went under the knife in the post-season in a bid to fix his damaged right foot.
The 31-year-old also underwent two wrist operations before Christmas.
Nevertheless, Lorenzo showed he’s still got love for MotoGP by posting a childhood picture on Twitter.
Lorenzo was ditched by Ducati last season after struggling to get to grips with the Desmosedici.
In an exclusive interview with Starsport, the three-time World Champion admitted he nearly called it quits.
He said: “We didn’t get good results at the start of the Championship so Ducati lost a bit of patience and signed another rider.
“But in that same moment I started winning because I had a new fuel tank that supported me on breaking and I started getting less physical fatigue.
“I could keep the pace throughout the race and win - but it was too late to sign again with Ducati.
“In that moment when we couldn’t get results, I tried my best. But my best didn’t allow me to get good results.
“It was a very sad moment in 2018. In that week I started thinking about retiring.
“I was getting a little depression - or something like a depression.
“I started realising how much I love the sport, MotoGP and the competing - all of this.”
Lorenzo ended up battered and bruised in Qatar.
He suffered a major crash in FP3 on Saturday morning and then came off his bike again in the first part of qualifying.
Lorenzo finished the race in 13th. His team-mate, Marc Marquez, was pipped at the line by Andrea Dovizioso.
