Repsol Honda will officially launch its 2019 MotoGP team, unveiling Jorge Lorenzo alongside defending world champion Marc Marquez, on January 23rd in Madrid with the help of Mick Doohan and Alex Criville.
Lorenzo and Marquez form the new factory Honda rider squad, the first change in the team’s line-up since Marquez’s arrival in 2013, with the pair on hand to reveal the new Honda RC213V at Madrid’s Campus Repsol.
The event is aimed to celebrate Repsol’s 25th anniversary as title sponsor with Honda and the presentation will also include two riders which were part of the team’s first-ever Repsol Honda line-up in Doohan and Criville.
Doohan secured four of his five 500cc world titles as a Repsol Honda rider while Criville also claimed his 1999 500cc world championship with the team.
The launch will be Lorenzo’s first official public appearance in Repsol Honda colours since joining the team this year having been banned from speaking to the media while testing at Valencia and Jerez with Honda due to his ongoing Ducati contract.
Repsol Honda boasts the most successful MotoGP rider line-up on the grid with 12 world titles including eight of the last nine premier class world championships won by its two riders.
Marquez will also make his first public appearance of the year as he continues to recover from left shoulder surgery. The 25-year-old stepped up his rehabilitation this week as he aims to return to full fitness in time for the first pre-season tests in Sepang next month.
Ducati will be the first MotoGP squad to launch its 2019 team which takes place in Switzerland on January 18th.
