The duo failed to mount a series title challenge at Yamaha this season.
Vinales finished third with three wins and seven podiums, 68 points behind eventual winner Marc Marquez.
Rossi, meanwhile ended the campaign in fifth after suffering a double-leg break late in the season.
But Vinales wants the veteran to continue riding alongside him, claiming Rossi is 'incredible'.
"He's brought so much to the championship and to motorcycling and it's important for him to carry on racing," he admitted to Marca.
“I think it will go very well, that we'll have a great year”

"He's still at an incredible level and helps you to improve, he really makes an impact and so it's important for him to continue for a long time."
Vinales also wants to stay with Yamaha for the long-haul.
“I think it will go very well, that we'll have a great year," he said.
"I have a great team, of course I'd like to continue with them and be strong, as always."
Vinales faded out of contention towards the business end of the calendar after a fantastic start to the season, something he also explained to Marca.
"It's the year in which I've suffered most. I started out in great physical and mental shape," the Spaniard continued.
"I thought the others would struggle to beat me.
"I very very strong, I was the rider to beat.
"Then came the highs and lows with the tyres and bike.
"It's been the toughest year mentally-speaking and I'm very tired at the season's end."
Rossi has admitted he has not yet made a decision regarding his MotoGP future, but is 'scared' by the prospect of retirement.
