MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo reveals unfair advantage Marquez and Crutchlow have over him - Daily Star - Daily Star

The Spaniard jetted off to Japan last week for crunch talks with engineers at the Japanese factory.

Lorenzo has struggled to get used to the RC213V having joined from Ducati last season.

His highest-place finish this season is 11th at Le Mans.

The 32-year-old triumphed in Barcelona 12 months ago, but Lorenzo insists he’ll need far more time to find his feet.

“MotoGP hero Jorge Lorenzo is struggling at Honda”

“When you have three, five or seven years of experience with a bike and you understand how to get the maximum of the bike,” he explained.

“In the last years at Yamaha I think I was riding my best.

“The same happens to Marc now in his [seventh] year on the bike. Cal is in his fifth year. They know all the secrets of the bike that I still don’t know.

“As I said, in terms of braking, it’s kind of the opposite to riding the Yamaha to Ducati and the Ducati to Honda. From the middle of the corner to the acceleration it doesn’t change so much from one bike to another.

“But in braking it’s completely different. At the moment I am improving in that area. At Mugello I made some improvements.

“But I am still half way through that process, with the injuries during preseason and the lack of testing, it’s getting a little bit harder, more than I would like, let’s say.”

When asked about Lorenzo’s ongoing issues, Marquez gave a blunt response.

“I am just concentrating on my side of the box,” he said.

“All the riders want the best bike but in the end I am working on my way, in my garage… Honda knows which way we need to follow.

“We just want to keep going, my target is to win the championships and to help the engineers get better and have the strongest bike.”
