DAZN enters Spanish market with Premier League and MotoGP offer

DAZN, the world’s first pure-sport live and on demand streaming service, is to launch in Spain in 2019, offering affordable and flexible access to some of the best sport in the world.

DAZN has today unveiled MotoGP and the Premier League as the first content to be made available on the platform. For the first time, Spanish fans will be able to watch these sports anytime, anywhere, with more sport to be confirmed before launch. DAZN guarantees no long-term contract, just one affordable price for access on most connected devices including TVs, smartphones, tablets, games consoles and PCs.

MotoGP has awarded DAZN the exclusive broadcast rights for every session of MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE, from FP1 qualifying to the race. DAZN, who has been awarded the rights from 2019 until 2022 will grow the audience of MotoGP in one of its most successful markets by providing live and on demand streaming of every event. Some live and highlights coverage will be made available to free-to-air television.

The Premier League has awarded DAZN exclusive broadcast rights for all games from 2019/20 to 2021/22, more than 235 live games a season. The Premier League is one of the most popular football leagues in Spain and around the world. Many of Spain’s footballers call the Premier League their home, including Manchester City superstar, David Silva, and world-class Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea.

Simon Denyer, CEO of DAZN Group, said: “We’re expanding at an incredible pace with our unique approach, breathing new life into sports with long and distinguished heritages and growing audiences. We give fans what they want; affordable and flexible access to the sport they love. We’re delighted to partner with these progressive rights holders to launch another big European market and look forward to unveiling more first-class sport before we go live in 2019.”

Manel Arroyo, Managing Director, Dorna Sports, said: “We are incredibly excited to begin this new chapter in the story of MotoGP with DAZN. The combination of world-leading streaming, OnDemand content and free-to-air coverage will reconceptualise how our Spanish audience can access with and enjoy MotoGP; getting each fan closer to the sport and allowing us to grow and enlarge our audience in Spain like never before. We are sure that DAZN, with their incredible vision and experience, will be the perfect partner for MotoGP.”

Premier League Executive Chairman Richard Scudamore said: “Football supporters in Spain are known around the world for their passion for the game. We are very pleased to be working with DAZN over the next three seasons to make the best Premier League coverage available to fans across the country.”

DAZN burst onto the scene in August 2016, debuting in Japan, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Its early success across Europe and Asia was followed by successful launches in Canada (2017), Italy (2018) and the United States (2018).
