MotoGP, Lorenzo: "Today was like a victory" - GPone English

Perhaps, for the first time since being with Honda, Jorge Lorenzo can end a day with optimism. 4th overall at Le Mans was an injection of confidence that he desperately needed even though it's not the solution to all his problems, and the Majorcan rider is the first to know this. Right now, however, he is equally aware that every small step must be appreciated.

"Yesterday, I said that every improvement would have been a victory for me, and today I won something," he commented with a smile.

Maybe he wasn't hoping for it early in the morning when he ended up falling a few minutes before the first practice session began.

"It was a difficult moment from a mental point-of-view, he confessed. " I fell, and I had to regain motivation and confidence to return to think positively. All I thought was that I had to continue and, in the end, I found something better. I won't be able to win on Sunday, but I can at least get closer to the best."

Today's result is also an indirect response to yesterday's rumors about a possible ultimatum from Honda. Jorge said he felt bad for that news, but he said it didn't affect him on the track.

"I'll keep the changes I made today on the bike secret," he said jokingly.  "But I can tell you that I found something to improve during braking.  The Honda has a very sensitive front, and you need to understand some tricks to drive at your best. But it's a feature of the bike that also has many strengths which can be taken advantage of. Today, I found something that allows me to improve my sensation and my comfort."

The seat has nothing to do with it this time.

"Actually, I realized that the standard one is the best. The one I used before with Yamaha and then with  Ducati doesn't work on the Honda," he revealed. "Tomorrow I'd like it to be dry to try other things, but today I couldn't do a single fast lap. Even my pace isn't bad. Having said that, we'll get points on Sunday, and it's during the race that we must show our progress."
