Honda rider Marquez has one hand on his fourth world championship title heading into the final round of the season, with the Spaniard 21 points clear of Dovizioso.
Dovizioso can still mathematically claim the crown, but the Ducati man needs to win around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo while Marquez finishes outside the top 11.
If Dovizioso wins, he will have seven victories to Marquez’s six this campaign but it still might not be enough for the championship if his 24-year-old rival rides conservatively.
Meanwhile, Maverick Vinales is third followed by Movistar Yamaha team-mate and motorcycle legend Valentino Rossi.
