Casey Stoner resumes Ducati MotoGP test duties at Valencia

Two-time champion Casey Stoner returned to Ducati MotoGP test action for the first time since May on Monday at Valencia.

Stoner is present at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, venue for the season finale in November, for a three-day private test, although he is set only to ride on Monday and Wednesday.

Ducati tester Michele Pirro, who finished fifth in a wildcard appearance on a third factory GP17 at Misano earlier this month, will take over riding duties on Tuesday.

As well as the Ducati test team, the Aprilia and Marc VDS Honda squads are also on track at Valencia.

This week's test marks Stoner's third outing of the season for Ducati, following appearances in pre-season testing at Sepang and at a private Barcelona test back in May.

Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso currently jointly heads the points standings alongside Honda's Marc Marquez heading into this weekend's Aragon race.
